Case Study: Bold in Black & White
Our clients had requested a contemporary look for their lounge and dining with a mixture of surfaces, textures and strong contrasting colour. The solution, black and white with a splash of red and a touch of turquoise. The starkness of colour is softened with the beautiful brocade ottoman and cushions. Use of the designer "Barcelona" chairs adds a classic, timeless appeal.
As there was no real entry area into the home, we created a diversion with the white screen. It creates a conversation piece and looks just as beautiful from the outside as inside.
We used a glass table and glossy white chairs in the dining area for a streamlined feel. As the room is not huge it appears more spacious being able to see through the clear glass table. The large pendant lamp over the dining table helps define the space and makes for cosy and inviting dinner parties.
The open plan kitchen is linked to the summer lounge towards the rear of the home. Use of turquoise and red brings the colours together throughout the home, making for a cohesive scheme that flows logically from room to room. Colours are repeated in the bedrooms - with some added brightness in the childrens rooms.
